try to remove the old openoffice files in your home, and try removing your .openoffice2 dir.

have you both chosen, take old config stuff while the install wizard is running?
what langpacks are you using?
does it happen with a new created user?

does the hard method help?
pacman -R <allyourinstalledopenofficepackages>
rm -r /opt/openoffice
pacman -S <allyouropenofficepackages>

thanks for your answers

I finally got it to work...

I deleted all the openoffice directories in my ~ directory...
running #> soffice did not work though, I had to use the full path for some reason: #> /usr/bin/soffice

But then it seemed to work fine. I am using the language pack that comes with it (English)
