Description:

The update from OpenSSL 1.0.1.d-1 to OpenSSL 1.0.1.e-1 broke the TLS handshake to my mail server in the Claws-mail email client. Downgrading to 1.0.1.d-1 fixed the problem.

I forgot to save the Claws-mail network log and Wireshark captures, but the TLS server responded with a 'error code: 40, Handshake failure (fatal)' packet after my 'Client Hello'.

I'll try to get more info on the IMAP server setup; I'm not the admin.

So far no problems for me. Afaik there's only gnutls used in claws for connections.

Please try openssl-1.0.1.e-2 from the [testing] repo.

I had a similar problem with openssl-1.0.1.e-1, my Ruby script gave following error:

/usr/lib/ruby/1.9.1/net/imap.rb:1439:in `connect': SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv2/v3 read server hello A: sslv3 alert handshake failure (OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError)

Both openssl-1.0.1.d-1 and openssl-1.0.1.e-2 work just fine.

Having a similar issue as kreinloo - however, when I tested with curl to see what the problem was, by passing curl the -3 flag (to explicitly use sslv3) it worked just fine. Looks like it's a workaround until the package is updated with the fix.

Update to openssl-1.0.1.e-3 fixed my Claws-mail problem.
