DetailsI tested GNOME Shell in a minimal VM system, and I found the following issues with the dependencies:
Unneeded dependencies: - folks: dropped in this commit: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-shell/commit/?id=970b9deeaa14471a7496dcd6cf5b32d4d41420d9 - nautilus: dropped in this commit: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-shell/commit/?id=18d69d70327f863226defea4ed06ef541d7ea5c9 - network-manager-applet: dropped in this commit: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-shell/commit/?id=d896248ff8e6b9858932ca54ecfdfc2b30fbd5ae - gcr, gnome-desktop, libpulse, networkmanager: already satisfied by other dependencies Missing dependencies: - evolution-data-server: replaces folks - gnome-screensaver: GNOME Shell fails to start if GNOME Screensaver is not installed, when started with startx or from a graphical desktop manager other than GDM. It's may not the expected behaviour, so I reported this issue to upstream: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693403 - gnome-control-center (optional): without this package, system settings, sound settings, network settings etc. can't be opened from the top panel - gnome-themes-standard (optional): without this package, GNOME Shell looks really ugly I attached a diff file with these changes. |
