Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  So this is not a GIMP bug and it's related to the posted bug from Jan.

starting gimp -i first creates .gimp (.gimp-2.8)
after that I can start gimp without any options and it works

Your backtrace involves oxygen-gtk2. I guess this is a duplicate of https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/33669.

And gimp was updated yesterday to 2.8.4
Is there still the problem? Can you use another theme engine, not the oxygen-gtk2 and test it there if it still crashes?

Works with Raleigh and oxygen-gtk. Thanks
