Description:
I've had issues running some tests for fail2ban with gamin backend. In discussions on github fail2ban, the maintiner raised that debian has applied a patch with respect to issues with inotify backend: https://github.com/fail2ban/fail2ban/issues/103#issuecomment-12866010

I've applied the patch reccomend (http://patch-tracker.debian.org/patch/series/view/gamin/0.1.10-4.1/18_gam_server_deadlocks.patch) and all is now working successfully. FYI I had to manually apply the current patch (fix-deprecated-const.patch) myself as this seem to fail with makepkg.

Obviously this would be better fixed gamin upstream, but it was raised over a year ago, and the last activty seems to be from Nov 2008...

Additional info:
* gamin-0.1.10-6

I suppose there really is no sense in waiting for some upstream acknowledgement, so I've briefly reviewed the issue from the links posted and decided to just apply the patch.

Please install -7 from [extra] and confirm that it fixes your particular problem.
