DetailsI think that except the Networking Profiles that ArchLinux desperately needs to support one way or another among other things (in order to be considered a real "distribution" rather than a collection of packages), NetworkManager is yet another one: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/NetworkManager/0.5/NetworkManager-0.5.0.tar.gz
I fully understand that Arch is about being "simple" and all (besides, I am coming from Slackware myself), but that doesn't mean that it is meant to be an old-style OS. Times move by fast, new needs are created daily for even power users (like most Archers are). And NetworkProfiles, NetworkManager, Beagle, automatic laptop sleep when closing the lid (works with Ubuntu, doesn't with Arch - Arch crashes when awakes) and the Gnome AdminTools are some of the things that desperately need *porting* (not just recompiling). This is why that these packages can only be created by Arch developers and not AUR/third-parties. There is a threshold when a user says "sure, I can do this or that via the command line, or with a bit of extra effort". When this threshold is passed, the user (yes, even the power user) is then in search of another distro, a distro that would do that for him automatically. Don't let this happen to your userbase, as Debian let it happen for Ubuntu and as Slackware let it happen for... Arch Linux itself! This strategic mistake is getting repeated in the Linux world, please find new blood to help you out with *engineering* on Arch, not just package creation! I wonder if you would be interested in sponsorship from companies to get you funded or something, so some heavy engineering starts to happen on Arch (pacman engineering is only one piece of the puzzle). |

A.T.M i am working on the gnome-system-tools to be ported to archlinux.
Jan is working on Xorg to get it more stabilized.
I agree it should be ported but school and work are eating up my time. school +/- 25 hours a week, work between 5/25 hours a week.
So maybe a bit of funding will get me more time. But the bad part is i lose the freedom to work on archlinux when i want to ;)
And we need to listen to the sponsor, this is also a bad thing imho.
Atm we are looking for an extra gnome maintainer to help us out with these kind of things. So in the end it is all a matter of time before it will be there.
