smbclient has an installed size of 63 MiB, which is excessive. Please link the binaries dynamically to libsmbclient as in previous versions.

Can you tell me which was the last version which was fine with dynamic linking?

It was 3.6.0-6. In the description I wrote 3.6.0-7, but that was a mistake; those sizes are actually from 3.6.0-6.

Ok there the waf buildsystem was used and caused real issues.
I will look into it when bumping to 4.0 series, this will not happen for 3.6.x
