Description:
Since systemd could take care of timer controlled activation, a systemd.timer could be added to the pkgstats package and enabled by default (just like how it works now).

I've made an example package at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pkgstats-systemd/

It seems timer units are not equivalent to crontabs. E.g. they are relative to the system runtime: "These are monotonic timers, independent of wall-clock time and timezones. If the computer is temporarily suspended, the monotonic clock stops too."

OnCalendar= timers use wallclock, see man systemd.time .

So they can replace cron, but not anacron.
