Details

Description:
There is a config file for ntpd, /etc/conf.d/ntpd.conf, but the ntpd.service does not use it. This is the content of /usr/lib/systemd/system/ntp.service:

[Unit]
Description=Network Time Service
After=network.target nss-lookup.target

[Service]
Type=forking
PrivateTmp=true
ExecStart=/usr/bin/ntpd -g -u ntp:ntp
ControlGroup=cpu:/
Restart=always

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

As you can see, none of the varialbes defined in /etc/conf.d/ntpd.conf are used, causing changing them in /etc/conf.d/ntpd.conf useless.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
4.2.6.p5-13
* config and/or log files etc.
/etc/conf.d/ntpd.conf
/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service

Same issue exists in /usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpdate.service, as well.

Systemd is not intended to work through ancillary files; you should simply copy the service file from /usr/lib/systemd/system/* to /etc/systemd/system/* and do whatever changes you please there.
