Description: trying to start digikam, it tries to open earlier versions of libkipi- and libkdcraw libraries. probably needs to be compiled against the newer ones.

not sure if this is an arch or upstream problem, so i'm reporting it here first...

It's neither arch nor upstream, you're expected to rebuild it yourself if you use [kde-unstable]

hm, i don't mind, but that wasn't obvious for me. [kde-unstable] provides binaries after all, and so far they've been working w/o recompiling. is this something special with digikam?

its not part of kde sc. kde-unstable only has kde sc not extragear.

[kde-unstable] provides KDE SC packages, digikam is not part of it. Read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=153419&p=1 if you use the [kde-unstable] repo.
Notice that digikam 2.6.x does not build against KDE 4.10, you will need 3.0 beta

i'm sorry, you're right, of course. didn't do my homework. just assumed digikam was part of the repo since it has been working until now.
