Currently, there is no way to browse old versions of AUR packages. Sometimes the maintainer makes a change, and there is no easy way to even see what the change was.

Having some kind of a changelog or at least a version history would make finding packaging regressions so much easier. Sometimes there may be even destructive changes and we need a way to rollback those. A freely formed maintainer comment (e.g. what issue was fixed with the change) for each package change should be encouraged.

This would require version control of all AUR packages. Such an implementation would depend on  FS#23010 .

How about a "soft" but simple solution:
whenever a packager provides a 'changelog' entry in the PKGBUILD, make that changelog accessible in the AUR web interface (e.g., add a "View Changelog" link to the "Package Actions" section).

Increasing the visibility of package changelogs in this way may also encourage maintainers to actually add a changelog to their package :)
