DetailsI'm not aware of any reason why Frostwire couldn't run on JDK 7 (or greater). If that's indeed the case, then its dependencies should be updated to remove the fixed dependency on JDK v6. (This is the only Java-dependent package on my system that depends specifically on that.)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I only use frostwire for downloads (which is really its core purpose), and not for media playing. And it seems silly to force everyone who uses it to have to make the choice of either staying pinned to an ancient version of Java, or removing the app from their system altogether - particularly when it's because of some bug in a non-core portion of the app.
Maybe it would be sufficient to just handle this with an install message? (i.e., "Note: media player functionality will not work with JDK 7; use JDK 6 if media player is required")
