Emacs scripts are now installed in /usr/share/maxima/version/emacs, which is not in the Emacs default (/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp). This path is subject to change when maxima is upgraded, so causes inconveniences for Emacs users. I suggest adding a symlink /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/maxima to that directory.
