'grub-install' included in 'grub-bios' needs 'sed' to work properly.

Solution:
Add 'sed' to the dependencies of 'grub-bios' (my also affect grub-efi).

Additional info:
* package version: grub-bios 2.00-1

Steps to reproduce:
1. remotely install systemd, linux and grub-bios say into /mnt
(e.g. with arch-install-scripts: pacstrap /mnt systemd linux grub-bios
2. chroot to /mnt (e.g. arch-chroot /mnt)

wrong, should install {base} group first

I do understand your point, but for me well-defined dependencies of base-packages would be very useful, since I use the arch-install-scripts
to set up and maintain minimal Linuxes remotely which have barely anything installed (grub, systemd plus a self-written HTTP-Server).

In short: I do not install base at all, so installing base first is not an option.

It's your decision if you want to support such unusual use-cases, that is why I marked it as 'Very Low' :)

  • Field changed: Summary (Missing dependencies for grub-bios → [grub-bios] Missing dependencies)
  • Field changed: Status (Unconfirmed → Assigned)
  • Task assigned to Ronald van Haren (pressh)
No, sorry. if you do not install {base} completely, is supposed that you know what are you doing. In such particular case, should install these "hidden" dependencies manually. Such setup is *unsupported*. In the same way {base-devel} is supposed to be installed completely before using makepkg.
If you dislike this, please discuss this in a non-specific case in arch-general ;)

Anyway assigning to maintainer to take a decision about this specific case.

PS: Next time please use a proper title. Thanks ;)
