This is a kernel patch I believe. Mandrake and SUSE use it. It works well.

It is non destructive NTFS resizing. I think this would be a GREAT thing to be able to do during the install. Few distros can say they can.

yes, i want to vote for this whish ... it would be really VERY usefull, as the most new computers are shipping with winXP on a NTFS partition the size of full harddisk, what makes it impossible installing archlinux without the possibility to resize the existent one

I really don't think this should be done install time... There are quite a few bootable CDs that handle resizing partitions much better/safer than we could with more filesystem support. See http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/.

ntfsutils can be found in staging
it would make sense to include them on install cd
to shrink ntfs partitions
