I was using fluxbox. When the system started, fluxbox will automatically run. Now I see the prompt. When I run startfluxbox I get:
xmodmap; unable to open display ''
Error: couldn't connect to XServer
I tried to install gnome, but when I run gdm start, a window with an error message appears:
"Oh no! Something has gone wrong"
"A problem has occurred and the system can't recover."
"Please log out and try again."
Tell me if you need more information.
Thanks.
if gnome returned "Oh no! Something has gone wrong" it means that Xorg is working fine with the driver.
What can be broken is opengl and you don't have 3d.
Try to reinstall nvidia-utils.
