DetailsPossible fix: add 'MODULES=ata_generic' to 'mkinitcpio.conf'
Steps: 0. Burn 2012.11.01 iso to DVD (dd to USB keys not work on Macbook) 1. Power on macbook, insert 2012.11.01 iso and hold 'alt' to get macbook boot menu 2. Select 'Windows' (DVD icon) to boot from DVD 3. Select entry from grub menu (both x86 and x64 has the same problem) 4. Boot process stuck with no disk found ERROR: '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201211' device did not show up after 30 seconds... PS. Booting in EFI mode work fine and I am able to install the system successfully but boot process (from installed system) will failed due to missing '/dev/sdXx' if not include 'ata_generic' module to mkinitcpio |

So you need to workaround doing a force module loading via boot kernel parameter: earlymodules=ata_generic
