Currently running freenx-0.7.3-13 and can't do a full system update due to the new gnu-netcat/openbsd-netcat change.

You should always check, if the bug hasn't been reported already. Searching for 'freenx' bugs may not be enough.
This has already been reported as  FS#32772  and consequently the todo list Greg (dolby) linked to has been created.
