DetailsSeveral packages depend on either openbsd-netcat or gnu-netcat, and it's starting to become problematic when upgrading packages (at least for me), since I have to choose between uninstalling one or the other half of the applications I have installed that uses netcat, because of the conflict.
Since gnu-netcat is the most used package according to pkgstats, and since it is in [extra], would it be possible to rename /usr/bin/nc to /usr/bin/nc-openbsd and not conflict? I believe that would solve more problems than it would create. Thanks |

Additional comments about closing: it will be fixed in packages that requires gnu-netcat directly.

Maybe instead dependency of said packages should point to netcat and not any specific implementation.
FS#32767. Also I added todo list. May be maintainers can change gnu-netcat dep to virtual netcat dep.
