Description:

On my Lenovo ThinkPad W500, waking the display from display sleep causes the machine to lock up. In particular, either the screen goes black and does not respond to any key combination (although the network light keeps blinking) or the screen shows one frame of the screensaver with the unlock dialog, but the dialog does not respond to input. The only recourse is to do a hardware restart. On restart, the brightness in X is set to its lowest setting.

This problem started when upgrading from 2.20.9-2 to 2.20.12-1. Downgrading back to 2.20.9-2 fixes the problem. The problem is consistently reproducible on this laptop.

Additional info:
* 2.20.12-1

Steps to reproduce:

1. Let screen saver start
2. Let screen go to sleep
3. Attempt to wake the display from display sleep

Please check 2.20.13 in testing. If it's not solved please bisect the porblem and report it upstream.

The problem still exists in 2.20.13. Using 2.20.9-2 fixes the problem. I'll bisect and report upstream once I discover where Arch archives old packages.

I'm having a similar problem here, but with CedarView GMA3600 on Atom D2500 (where is not supported by Intel, when talking about Open Source drivers.)

Using:
Xorg 1.13.0
xf86-video-intel 2.20.13
xf86-video-fbdev
Kernel 3.6.7

When you let screen sleep (DPMS), on wakeup, the screen goes DARK BLUE, if you use Fluxbox, and BLACK if you use pure X (without any DM).

The computer does not locks up. You can use the computer blind.
Even switching from X to VT the screen does not changes (no resolution change, no color change, no blinks, nothing), but typing commands like logging in as root and typing "reboot" it obeys, as well ctrl + alt + delete.

Status with recent kernel 3.7, latest Xorg and Intel 2.20.17 - upstream report?

Trying to respond to the Dec 28 comment. The report is that the problem has not been resolved yet. Earlier, when trying to report the problem upstream, the bug reporting engine at Xorg was broken...

Please do the upstream report if it's not solved in the current version and leave the report url here.

I'm on a netbook with CedarView GMA3600 on Atom D2500. Same problem, won't wake from sleep. However, this issue has been around since at least kernel version 3.6.11.
