Description:
Region select stopped working via keyboard

Additional info:
emacs 24.2-2
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start emacs.
2) press C-SPC
3) press C-e
4) Notice that the text is not highlighted.
5) press ESC-w (copy)
6) notice the error: The mark is not set now, so there is no region

Note: I have confirmed that this has nothing to do with my .emacs file as I have opened my emacs with a blank configuration and the problem still occurs. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling emacs.

Also, I have verified that emacs believes that the C-SPC is tied to the set-mark-command command

Thanks,

Works here on my custom built emacs without X support.
Can you reproduce in a terminal with emacs -nw?

I can't repro this bug. Do you see "Mark set"/"Mark activated"/"Mark deactivated" when you invoke M-x set-mark-command?

It happens to me in in the terminal with emacs -nw

running M-x set-mark-command works perfectly. As does selecting with the mouse. The problem only seems to happen when I use C-SPC

Thanks for your help.

I figuredd it out. It turns out that ibus was starting up on my machine and stealing C-SPC. Sorry for the trouble.
