Details

Description:
After upgrade, can't log in via X, I am redirected to a cli login.
startx shows errors (see /var/log/Xorg0 log file attached).
A downgrade of the linux and linux-headers packages solved the problem.

* Config: ASUS K53S, with Nvidia Optimus 610M

According to your log, you're still running 3.6.2 when X failed to run. I'd say you need to make sure your /boot partition is mounted when you're doing kernel upgrades.

My /boot mount is in my fstab... How could it not be mounted, and how could I know that it wasn't??
And in this case, why did the downgrade solve the problem? Or are they 2 different problems?

The install scriptlet for linux will yell at you:

And the fact that your log says you're still booting off the old kernel is a pretty good sign, too.

I've no idea _why_ it wasn't mounted, but this isn't a packaging bug.
