Description:

Extra caracters added to the new prompt line after cat'ing an odt file

Additional info:

* config and/or log files etc.


Steps to reproduce:

Let's create a file named test.odt with libre office and let's fill it with some text.

Then open a terminal and type cat test.odt, the file will be prompted as desired but some extra caracters will be appended to the new prompt line

Reason for closing:  Not a bug
Additional comments about closing:  This is how terminals behave when they're forced to print random binary data which may inadvertently contain ANSI escape sequences. Solution: don't do it.

What's the use of catting a binary file to stdout? This happens with a lot of terminals, some even completely screw up when catting binary files.
