Hmm, I see. What's the next step? (new to this)

There is a new package in AUR called "pango-patched". Could you install it and check if it solves your problem?
Comment by Paul G (laz0r_viking) - Thursday, 08 November 2012, 15:36 GMT
Installed "pango-patched" but receiving the same error as described in Details. BTW, I forgot to mention that I am running Xfce4, not GNOME.

Hmm, in that case I am not sure what the problem is. You could also try downgrading to the older version of pango. It was upgraded exactly the day you filed your bug. See here: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/pango/

Downgraded pango (1.32.1-1 => 1.30.1-1) (added force for conflicting files, only pango-related):
$ pacman -Uf /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pango-1.30.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

Try again:
$ electricsheep-preferences
SetInstallation: /usr/share/electricsheep/Scripts
**
Pango:ERROR:pango-layout.c:3802:pango_layout_check_lines: assertion failed: (!layout->log_attrs)
Aborted

Also tried the following versions using "downgrade" package in AUR (skipped a couple after 1.28.4-3):
1.30.0-1
1.29.4-1
1.28.4-3
...
1.28.0-1
...
1.26.0-2

All gave same error with varying pango-layout.c line number. Hmm....

I see a recent "lib32-pango" upgrade.... let me try that path.
Comment by Eric Belanger (Snowman) - Friday, 16 November 2012, 16:54 GMT
lib32-pango won't help. It's for multilib stuff.
Comment by Bernhard Koenig (Antunes) - Saturday, 17 November 2012, 12:16 GMT
There has recently been a pango update which fixed some logout problems. Paul could try this and see if it helps. The update should be on both 32 and 64 bit, so simply upgrade the "pango" package.

Reproducible with electricsheep 2.7v33-3 and pango-1.32.2-1 by calling electricsheep-preferences.
Same log message. Application itself works fine, just the preferences dialog crashes.

Getting same pango error message here. Running electricsheep 2.7b33-3 with pango 1.30.1-1 on under dwm 5.9 on a i686 arch.

Also getting this running electricsheep 2.7b33-3/awesome 3.5/i686 arch - anyone know a workaround?
Comment by norbert neumann (numann) - Thursday, 28 March 2013, 17:06 GMT
Get the same error on i686 and x86_64.
I just have filled a report for  bug 34509 , I also have.
And the third open bug, too: 33618

Seems pretty buggy now... :/
I cannot build it from AUR, too... :(
