Description:

When trying to connect to a remote realVNC (on a Windows machine), I get a seg fault before being presented with the password dialog.

Connecting to a local VNC server (for instance to a QEMU machine) is OK.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
vinagre 3.6.1-1
realVNC windows 32 bits 4.1.2 and VNC-5.0.3-Windows.exe tested, both produces the same problem.
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Install VNC-5.0.3-Windows.exe on a Windows machine
2) Configure the VNC service on that machine and set the password
3) Start vinagre and try to connect to the Windows machine

Did the test trying to connect to an UltraVNC server: same problem.

I had this same problem. Downgrade to vinagre-3.4.2-1 fixed it.

The issue appears to be independent of the remote server. I get "Segmentation fault" when connecting to an Arch Krfb server and a Debian TightVNC server.
tightvnc works fine.

According to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libsecret/+bug/1071055
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686015
the issue is with libsecret and password authentication. Ubuntu already has a fix for it.

(I guess the OP's local VNC server in QEMU didn't have a password)

Thanks. vinagre-3.4.2-1 works OK
True, there is no password set for my QEMU VNC server
