Description:

This worked prior to the latest build:

noremap <silent> <F3> :set hlsearch!<CR>

Now it capitalizes 3 characters and leaves matches highlighted.

Additional info:

$ pacman -Ss vim |grep installed
extra/gvim 7.3.712-1 [installed]
extra/vim-runtime 7.3.712-1 [installed]

Plugins are Pathogen and...
$ ls .vim/bundle/
color-table gist vim-bundler vim-colors-solarized vim-fugitive vim-rails vim-rake vim-ruby vim-rvm

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add the above mapping to .vimrc or enter it in the Vim command bar
2. Enable search highlighting:
:set hlsearch
3. Add some text you want to match:
isome foo some other foo[Esc]
4. Search for some text: /foo
5. [F3] should clear the highlighting, but will capitalize the current character and the next two

   .vimrc (4.5 KiB)

please start with:

vim -u NONE

then try to map the key and see if you are getting the same behavior

if you are, then please find the latest commit that this doesn't happen on and please report it to upstream

so I just tried this out with my vimrc:

set hlsearch
noremap <silent> <F3> :set hlsearch!<CR>

and it worked, so there must be something broken in your config
