Detailsmutter needs to have "libsm" as a dependency.
Currently, mutter 3.6.1-1 [gnome-unstable] is being built with session management disabled, which breaks logins to GNOME [1] [2], since gnome-shell (which uses libmutter) never registers with gnome-session.
