Description:

In the latest install CD the "PXE" NFS/NBD installation modes are hardcoded to have:

"copytoram=y"

This means that installing over network to a low memory system fails (not enough space). Installing over NFS without copytoram works on previous versions.

copytoram should default to "y" only if there is enough memory. Otherwise it should be possible to disable copytoram through command line switches.

Steps to reproduce:

Try to do an NFS install with a system with less than 512MB (probably using a VM).

  • Field changed: Attached to Project (Arch Linux → Release Engineering)
I can add a test to test if copytoram is explicit set to "n" for NFS/NBD, but this will not be supported at all, since some problems can happens on shutdown (hang), and on runtime if network settings changes.
