Detailsxf86-input-joystick version 1.6.1-2
After updating to 1.6.1-2 , my joystick was sending keyboard and mouse events, making the system unusable. I removed the joystick temporarily, then checked what had happened. it turned out my edited 50-joystick.conf had been overwritten by the default file from the new package. I've re-edited 50-joystick.conf so the joystick no longer sends keyboard/mouse events. in The whole point of installing this driver is to use the joystick as mouse. If you don't want to have it configured as mouse, don't install the driver. I have tested joystick with and without the xf86-input-joystick driver and found it does much more then just enable use of the joystick as mouse. With xf86-input-joystick the joystick has deadzones that make using it much easier. Also not all buttons (especially hat switches) are detected without xf86-input-joystick installed. Maybe /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-joystick.conf could be added to the backup array in the PKGBUILD. If i understand things correctly, then xf86-input-joystick will not overwrite MY 50-joystick.conf but instead create a .pacnew file. |
