Please post the _exact_ error. It sounds to me more like /tmp is full. Pacman has no explicit list of partitions it checks. In fact, currently, we check far too much (everything that's mounted).

OK is dificult make a log in a ful /var if everithing store log in /var
but ok I try to give all steps

I turn my Laptop and make a "litle" of work
them Install a package (in my case wxgtk) them download and check freespace
them the package try to install and fail with a single message error about .INSTALL
I check (df -H) my partitions and /tmp round 50% (from a size=1G) and /var is full (a 5G in jfs in a gpt part)
then delete logs (This is why I not have logs) and try again
pacman say about files alredi existing (obvious not update the /var), the only option is forcing or move the alredy existing archives and try again install
my root is a / 40960M actually at 7%)

> fail with a single message error about .INSTALL
Yes... and that error is... ?

I'm asking for specific errors thrown by pacman, not an anecdote about what happened.

Please attach your /etc/pacman.conf as well.

I remmember that say unable to continue due error in .INSTALL and then stop
nothing specific

But I noticed that the package install the archives, in other word the .INSTALL simply not update the database about installed packages (But install the archives anyway and complain about the error post install them)

the order of installatin probably can changed and update the installed package database in /var before install the archives or check /var is full

This is my pacman.conf
I boot in linux standard kernel for updated the sistem
and the pacman pkg cache is stores in another partition

Nothing to do here if you can't reproduce this and get the actual error. pacman already does what you claim the bug to be.
