For an example of the Desktop>Administration menu category, see the following screenshot from another distro that uses Gnome 2.12:

These are provided by gnome-system-tools, which don't support archlinux. Not having a package in the repositories is far from critical IMHO.

Gnome-system-tools provides a base in which to perform important administrative and system tasks. Perhaps it's not critical, but I think it is very important in order to achieve a complete Gnome desktop IMHO.

if you think it is that important, please write a patch for us.
Jan has been working hard on getting a good 2.12 release.

And this is far from critical, adding user installing boot stuff can be simply from the console.

arjan - I do think it is important, which is why in the forum I offered my assistance to create one. Unfortunately, I am not a programmer, so this may take some time. I am also reading the tutorial for creating packages.

This bug does not question how hard Jan has been working to produce 2.12 for arch. Again, if you read my forum comments, you will see that I praise Jan's 2.12 release and that I believe it is the perfect distro for me because of it. In addition, if #archlinux is logged, you will also read how I have praised Jan's Gnome 2.12.

Finally, gst does more than just perform "adding user installing boot stuff." And, I don't really want to be contentious about this, but if gst functions are insignificant than can assume that the equivalent also does not appear in KDE?

Again, it may not be critical, but I do feel it is significant.

Any way, Jan says he plans to provide gst upstream when he has time.

I think the Administration menu would be a good place to put apps like Jacman in as well. Ubuntu does this for its package manager (Synaptic).
