DetailsIf i upgrade kernel package and then suspend to disk it does not wake up properly... It also does not make sense to reboot before suspending... Can't we just backup old kernel somewhere and leave it there till reboot? It's the same with modules which are not loaded in memory when kernel is upgraded...

This task depends upon
If you can't commit to a reboot after a kernel upgrade, its quite simple: don't upgrade the kernel.
Your approach can make sense at servers, but not at laptops.
Why does the platform matter? Why is it harder to add 'linux' to IgnorePkg on a laptop than a server?
