I'm wonder why polkitd user uses `/' as his home directory? Other "system" users on my system have home directories in `/var/lib/'. P.S. I may be wrong but I speculate that the only reason to use `/' is that starting a process as `polkitd' user would require to check the existence of user home directory. If it is true would it be wrong to set `polkitd' home directory to `/dev/null'? |

This is correct. Polkit does not make use of $HOME, so setting it to / avoids any trouble.
