DetailsDescription:
After upgrade to kerne 3.5.3-1 (i686) and running my GeForce 8400 GS under xf86-video-nouveau (both 1.0.1-1 from Extra and 1.0.2-1 from Testing), I experience screen corruption - apparently only under heavy load. Using the icewm WM this manifests as progressive corruption of: (1) gkrellm display (2) window borders / widgets (3) program icons. This first occured after browsing back and forth between a few high definition photos on Facebook (which reliably reproduces the crash). I have also run the ungine-heaven benchmark program from AUR and this very quickly produces the same outcome. Reverting to kernel 3.4.9-1 fixes the issue. There is nothing in my logs. Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: As above. |

FS#31330(although I see progressive corruption rather than an outright crash). Other than the stress test of ungine-heaven, the only program which triggers the problem is firefox. I can browse the same high definition photos on Facebook using both Opera and Chromium, and there is no display corruption. Further: (1) the image (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/54/Lange-MigrantMother02.jpg), mentioned in theFS#31330report, provokes corruption, and (2) my graphics card has only 256Mb. I have not applied György Balló's patch, becuase nouveau_exa.c in my current xf86-video-nouveau 1.0.2 differs from that in 1.0.1. I will be happy to test any revised patch if that is considered useful.
