pretty sure is a kde issue. everything works correctly on gnome.

Shouldn't that be independant from the DE?

Did you start the Color Daemon service? (System Settings -> Service Manager)
Try with gnome-color-manager so we can reply to Ioni

Sorry, I didn't understand that as a question.

I installed gnome-color-manager - what to do now? I haven't seen any binary to call in the package which gives me the attached devices.

$ gcm-inspect -xv
17:12:51 Verbose debugging enabled (on console 1)
17:12:51 failed to get XServer profile data: failed to get property
17:12:51 failed to get XServer protocol version: failed to get property

And what exactly should I look for within the program, as the colormgr CLI is not showing the devices, too?

Thanks

I guess you've to run gcm-viewer, if you get your monitor in the devices list, then this is a colord-kde issue. if you don't, then this is a colord issue. (In both cases, report this upstream and paste the link here. thanks)
