In some case happens that a package will be deprecated and replaced with a new package that provides the same functionalities.

So it's useful if in AUR you implement a button for deprecating a package and a form for indicating the new package.

For example, I'm developing the intel compilers pkg and I've replaced the old
Intel-composer: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=43798
with the new:
Intel-parallel-studio: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=56337

It would be useful for the developer and the users to have a more easy way to notify the deprecation and the new package.

What effect are you suggesting this "deprecation button" should have on the package?

Simply print out a warning plus a comment and the link to the new package.

Surely it's just as effective to leave a comment on the old package?

Ashley: Agreed. Will close as "Won't implement".
