i was installing beagle and noticed that gnumeric didnt have ssindex enabled during build, i know i can use abs and make the required changes, but since beagle is going to be mainstream soon, why dont we include ssindex support in gnumeric?

Quoted from http://beaglewiki.org/Optional_prerequisites :

ssindex

ssindex is a program which can extract metadata from spreadsheets. Beagle requires this program to parse and index spreadsheet data from Gnumeric and Microsoft Excel files. It is a part of the gnumeric 1.4 distribution. Like pdfinfo, this is a runtime dependency.

On SUSE 9.3, you will need to install the gnumeric package.

You can download the gnumeric source from the Gnumeric web site (http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnumeric/).

If you are compiling from source - make sure to enable ssindex by using --enable-ssindex during configure as follows: ./configure --enable-ssindex
