DetailsLet's see what the pmtools package contains:
madt: broken against modern acpidumps acpixtract: exactly the same source is provided by iasl turbostat: the source shipped with this package is outdated, a newer improved version can be found in the kernel tree. acpidump: exactly the same source is provided by iasl pmtest: pretty useless Perl script since it depends on a kernel module which is not compiled/provided with the package. Even with the Makefile being fixed up, the pmtest.c module does not get compiled on a modern Linux kernel. The original source was at http://www.lesswatts.org/projects/acpi/git.php, but both the git tree and original download are gone. This looks very unmaintained/obsolete to me. I propose to drop this package, or at least: - remove acpixtract and acpidump, adding an optional dependency on iasl - remove pmtest, it is a testing tool on which nobody has reported the missing pmtest.c dependency so far. - turbostat: prepare a new package with up-to-date source (or drop it until someone requests it in which case a new "turbostat" package should be created) - madt: unmaintained, does not work for modern systems => drop it? When the package is empty because the above points are followed, drop this package completely? |
