Hey all.

md5sum is broken. It does not match the manual page for md5sum, which might mean that md5sum was subsituted in. To be specific, 'echo "hello" | md5sum' does not work.
I have marked this bug as critical (Severity) due to md5sum's usefulness in scripts.

What do you mean that it doesn't match the manual page? and what is broken in it?

[firetux@p4m ~]$ echo "hello" | md5sum
b1946ac92492d2347c6235b4d2611184 -
[firetux@p4m ~]$

it seems to work fine...

[kbrooks@kbrooks ~]$ echo "hello" | md5sum
Usage: md5sum [-z] <file | directory>

The manual page for md5sum says the command takes standard input, and somehow the command does not. I even reinstalled coreutils, and it still will not match the manual page.

I forgot to say that I have
[firetux@p4m ~]$ pacman -Qi coreutils
Name : coreutils
Version : 5.2.1-5
...

but, for me, the command md5sum works
