Description: (Probably) After updating to cups 1.6.1 and hplip 3.12.6 my printer (HP Officejet Pro 8000) doesn't work correct anymore. When using hpcups (configured through cups webinterface or hp-setup) I can only print pdf documents. Other documents are printed as completly black pages. Duplex printing is not possible, even if I choose appropriate media sizes and the corresponding 'installable option'. In /var/log/cups/error_log I can find the following line:

E [07/Aug/2012:11:58:45 +0200] [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file "/usr/share/cups/drv/cupsfilters.drv"!

When using hpijs, I can choose all options in printing menus, for example in evince or libreoffice, but after taking the paper, printing stops. In the webinterface I can read 'Filter Failed'. A page with

*** Unable to open the initial device, quitting.

is printed.

The output of hp-setup after a fresh install of cups and hplip, before configuring the printer is attached as hp-check.txt.

Additional info:
* package version(s) cups 1.6.1-2, cups-filters 1.0.20-1, hplip 3.12.6-3, foomatic-db foomatic-db-engine fommatic-filters (each) 1:4.0.17_20120712-1
* config and/or log files etc.

Please use debug log level in cupsd.conf to get useful messages.

If this is a usb printer you may want to try the latest patch from this report: http://cups.org/str.php?L4128+Qversion:1.6

The patches above have gone upstream meanwhile. It should be safe to let usblp module now loaded. It's no more needed to blacklist it.

Your error seems somehow driver related. This is a hplip driver? Can you use a different generic one to test from foomatic ppds?

We need to sort out if this error is cups-filter or ghostscript or hplips driver related.
