DetailsDescription: New Installation failed to boot because of erroneous grub.cfg
Installation with release 2012.07.15 runing in virtualbox. Msdos partitioned drive with 4 primary partitions. root : /dev/sda3; boot : /dev/sda1; swap : /dev/sda2; home : /dev/sda4 Following installation instructions produced set root='hd0,msdos5' and subsequent failure to reboot! Booting required manual intervention. Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: |
This task depends upon
I repeated the grub installation process using uuid referencing (genfstab with -U option) rather than no option and this produced a bootable system!
There was no mention of 'hd0,msdos5', only of 'hd0,msdos1' in grub.cfg.
