Reason for closing:  Upstream

This is likely an upstream issue. It's probably not worth looking into from our side.

Humm it is working at the moment. Thanks for looking at it anyway. Feel free to close this report ;)
Cheers

Heh as always i was in rush, it work in FF25 but not in chromium 30.0.1599.114 (229842)
Comment by Pierre Schmitz (Pierre) - Saturday, 02 November 2013, 23:24 GMT
It seems random to me. I bet it's related to caching issues.
Comment by George (cybertorture) - Saturday, 02 November 2013, 23:32 GMT
I really did not expect that but when i clean all caches it stop working with FF25. Since it is not a critical bug i vote to be closed if there is no more intrest in fixing it.
Cheers.

Actually, it's because print.css [1] does only one thing: hides the permalink. I'm puzzled as to what does "it is working at the moment" and "caching issues" mean...

Alternatively, the stylesheet could be configured at [2], but only admins can edit the MediaWiki namespace. There seems to be a draft [3], but it is placed in the wrong namespace.

Can we remove that link?

I can confirm. Printable version works with Firefox browser, but do not work with Chromium browser.

@Andrew Shark (laptander) are you cleared cache ? I ask because i did a fast check and the bug is still there on FF.
Comment by Jakub Klinkovský (lahwaacz) - Sunday, 28 September 2014, 09:06 GMT
Interestingly, printable version works on some Special Pages [1], but not all of them [2]. I have yet to find a regular content page where printable version works (testing on FF), but IMO that's not possible due to the print.css mentioned earlier. @Andrew Shark, maybe you have one?

Yes, I have cleared cache.

In firefox (I use 32.0.3 version for now) I did the following: menu -> settings -> additional -> tab Network -> in caching I pressed "clear now" button. For example, let us take https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_guide page. If I click "Printable version" <s>it works for me</s>.

Stop! I have discovered the following. If I am not logged in, printable version does not work in firefox and does not work in chromium. But if I am logged in, printable version works in firefox and works in chromium.

I confirm: as Jakub Klinkovský (lahwaacz) says, even if i am logged out, some printable version works [1], but not all of them [2].

had similar issue on wiki set up for documentation purposes for http://internetvergelijken.nl/, but it turned out to be something with cdn cache. have you tried to purge it?
Comment by Marcello Kreek (Juunoo) - Tuesday, 15 August 2017, 12:25 GMT
I don't like it that i have to switch to another browser. I tried deleting met cache but i doesn't work for me. My wiki for https://www.telefoonvergelijk.nl will have to wait till i've a solution.

for me it's fixed:
both [1] and [2] work
either in firefox or chromium
either logged in or not
Comment by Jakub Klinkovský (lahwaacz) - Sunday, 01 October 2017, 15:17 GMT
Regular pages such as https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Main_page&printable=yes still show the same content for printable and normal requests.

Have you tried it with Chromium?
Comment by mattia (nTia89) - Sunday, 01 October 2017, 15:30 GMT
oh, yes...
it's a weird issue:
this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&printable=yes , works in Chromium and Firefox
this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Main_page&printable=yes , works in Firefox but doesn't work in Chromium

anyway, is this a Chromium issue? and not an Arch issue?
Comment by mattia (nTia89) - Thursday, 09 September 2021, 20:29 GMT
It has been fixed in Chromium for me.

If no one points to a non-working archwiki-printable page, the bug can be easily closed.
