So I have not installed psmouse-elantech as suggested in synaptics wiki, i.e.https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics#Touchpad_detected_as_.22PS.2F2_Generic_Mouse.22_or_.22Logitech_PS.2F2_mouse.22

So it works after installing it?

As per the wiki, the bug was fixed in kernel version 3.3. So, I thought installing psmouse-elantech would be required only if my kernel version is < 3.3. Hence, I have not installed that package.
