Details

The open-vm-tools source tarball has everything needed: modules/linux/dkms.{conf,sh}. Would be nice to have a package open-vm-tools-dkms containing the source and setup to automatically build modules via dkms on system startup.

I could take a deeper look and provide patches if you like.

I uploaded my package to AUR, feel free to delete it there as soon as a dkms package is in community.

BTW, using dkms tree you can build binary package without using configure. ;)
