How to reproduce, obviously:

Try to add a APE file to playlist. It would not be added.

Andrew, it's not obvious if it's from the commandline or GUI, nor how you can immediately tell that it can't or not.

In any case, please read and follow the guidelines for reporting bugs.

I'm serious that it makes life easier for people that help out with managing tickets if bug reports try to follow the guidelines for reporting bugs, yes.
The gains may not be obvious when reporting a bug or two, but when you're trying to sort out and possibly confirm several bugs in succession, it really helps.
Sloppy tickets makes us go all / (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Cannot reproduce. I just downloaded a sample APE file and it played fine. Could you look for error messages in the debug output, please?
