Details

Just noticed that Fedora is using screen from repo snapshot (4.1.0), Debian too (based on Fedora). Maybe it's worth to check for upgrade? Debian reports only problem that new version is incompatible with session runnning in screen-4.0.3.

Additional comments about closing:  no valid reason to use git, since the screen devs somehow don't find it stable enough to release it.

What is the benefit of upgrading to a git snapshot ? Is there a problem with our current version of screen that is fixed in git ?

it add the support for vertical split.
the patch for long erm is still needed

There is a stable release of screen, so this more a upstream issue. You could also ABS and add the vertical split patch
