Details

The ati-drivers pkg requires that AGP support is built as a module and also that certain FB drivers are also compiled as modules.

Please can the next kernel modularize these drivers so that people can build ati-drivers without a recompile. It also means we can host an ATI driver pkg built against the stock kernel in [community]

why you disabled fb-drivers?

They are modules - not disabled. Apparently this is necessary for the ATI drivers to function - i can ask if you need clarification

However, this doesn't mention the FB drivers

That is the best info I can offer. Maybe FB is necessary. It would be good if someone who actually used the drivers was supporting this request but what can I do? People can't even help themselves...

Hallo... the answer is quite easy:
Ati drivers need all the agp-related stuff to be built as a module to work and, in order, to compile agpgart as a module is needed to compile FB_I810 and FB_I810_GTF as modules otherwise you are not allowed to select agpgart as module. Anyway, the real answer should be: "are FB_I810 and FB_I810_GTF really needed???". That's all...

C ya :)

Thanks qwerty - so yeah, unless you set the two framebuffer drivers as modules you can only have Y/N fpr AGP, you have to set the FB drivers as modules to modualrize the AGP drivers

new 2.6.13 kernel should be more ati friendly.

...yeah, which is great, if it ever makes it to [current]...
