They're fixed. Neither of those packages are capable of causing the problems you describe (and only the problems you describe). Sounds more like you fubar'd a kernel upgrade.

Linux 3.1.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jan 14 08:11:41 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux
Whats wrong with my kernel?
Comment by Dave Reisner (falconindy) - Sunday, 24 June 2012, 22:33 GMT
It's old. The current kernel in the repo is 3.4.4. I'm guessing that pacman probably says you have 3.4.4 installed which means you did the upgrade with /boot not mounted.

Even with "Linux 3.4.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun 23 10:03:55 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux" this problem can be reproduced. Downgrade "systemd-tools" will solve this problem.

...and what version of initscripts are you using? Perhaps you could just save the trouble and upgrade everything.
Comment by bloger (bloger) - Monday, 25 June 2012, 01:11 GMT
2012.05.1-3 installed. There was some problem with new initscripts. Fixed or not, I don't know.

If this version are incompatible with new systemd-tools, then why such information not announced? Why pacman know nothing about confict?

You are cherry picking upgrades. This is completely unsupported. Always has been -- always will be.
