It works for me on XMonad. so I don't really see why it won't work on e17. Does the bookmark show up in the sidebar?

@Jelle van der Waa (jelly):
yes, but the button is still grey and cannot be clicked too...
btw, to be specific, i'm using e17 with lxdm under Arch Linux i686,
and the problem exists since i installed evince on Arch first time.

this "bug" has nothing to do with Arch. I guess evince requires some service to run in order to have this Add Bookmark feature enabled.
I think is /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-metadata which are started automatically by dbus the the interfaces are used.

If you want to really find out why, let upstream know about this.

ok, install gvfs, execute "/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd &" and it works now.
thank you all for your help :D

cor: only need to directly install gvfs, no need to execute "/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd &":)
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Tuesday, 12 June 2012, 09:39 GMT
isn't gvfs installed by default?
Comment by Ceridoca (Cravix) - Tuesday, 12 June 2012, 09:59 GMT
@Ionut Biru (wonder):
gvfs is not a dep of evince :)
