Description:
After upgrading to xcb-utils 0.3.9-1, i3 failed to start when I started X. The error message that i3 printed to the console was
---
i3: error while loading shared libraries: libxcb-util-so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xinit: connection to X server lost
---
Since I start X upon login, X then quits and I am returned back to the login screen (just a plain console, I don't use a login manager)

I have downgraded to xcb-utils 0.3.8-1, and downgraded all the dependencies as well (xcb-utils-image and startup-notification). This has fixed the problem. I will be reporting this to the i3 developer shortly.

Please don't report this upstream, they've done nothing wrong. You've clearly either done a partial upgrade, or built i3 yourself from another package than the one in the repos. This is your problem, not ours or upstream's.
